To fulfill agreements reached during the previous meeting of the two Parliaments Heads in Brussels (Belgium) on February 24, 2015, it is planned to sign the Memo on mutual understanding between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament on joint parliamentary support and increase of institutional capacity in the frames of the upcoming visit of the European Parliament President to Ukraine.
The Memo will become a unique strategic document on cooperation between the two parliaments. The joint work on implementation of the Memo will trigger systemic reformation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine aimed at the consolidation of its constitutional functions, increase of transparency, predictability, and openness of Verkhovna Rada as well as on effective implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
In the frames of the implementation of the Memo, the Parties will focus on consolidation of the institutional capacity of the parliamentary committees, improvement of the process of adaptation for the EU legislation, optimization of regulation procedures, increase of efficiency of the Verkhovna Rada administration, deepening of relations with civil society, etc.
The President of the European Parliament plans to take floor at the plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
